Let’s talk about the hot mess Leo got into after Rita told her boss, EJ DiMera (Dan Feoregel), about Leo’s lurking and snooping. It’s only a matter of time before EJ squashes Leo’s curiosity, perhaps forever.
Days of our Lives: Leo arrested
After the power outage, when Leo finds Gwen Rezic (Emily O’Brien), he becomes very curious and returns to the construction area in the basement. Unfortunately, Leo was caught and had to think on his feet when Rita confronted him while he was out there snooping. Of course, Rita didn’t buy Leo’s story that he lost his earpiece. Afterwards, Rita ran and told her boss, EJ, that cub reporter Leo was lurking and looking around where he shouldn’t be.

So what are EJ’s plans to deal with young reporter Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) being too nosy? Well, you know, Leo couldn’t leave on his own and he just had to wander into the safe room of the new clinic. This was where he got a sneak peek while saving Gwen. But of course the lock is strange. Security is exaggerated in explanation. Leo can clearly see that this is not a medical storage area as he was told when he stormed in to rescue Gwen during the power outage.
I know Leo was asking for trouble when he decided to wander back into hard hat territory again. Of course, Rita wasn’t fooled by the AirPod cover story. Now, EJ has gone and ordered Gwen to play nice with her former best friend, Leo, aka Matty. EJ wants Gwen to find out what Leo was doing in the lab and convince him to stay out of their business.
Days of our Lives: Secret Laboratory Revealed
At this point, Leo clearly knows he made a mistake by snooping because he told Chad, aka Chadwick, all about his confrontation with Rita and his fears. But Chad laughed at him. He ignored Leo’s concerns. However, Chad has no idea that Leo has found EJ’s new secret lab and there are some very unclear plans for this new area of research.
With EJ and Gwen conspiring in this very mysterious science project, I think everyone in Salem who finds out must be very afraid. DiMera and mad science together equal trouble. So Leo’s hunch about the space EJ is using for something dastardly is correct. But finding out could cost him, perhaps his life.
Days of Our Lives: Gwen’s Deceptive Olive Branch – An old nickname that raises suspicions
Leo was also surprised when Gwen was dropped by the viewer to play nice, as EJ had instructed. Gwen initially tried to back away. But EJ wasn’t having it and forced her to do his bidding. Gwen even used her old pet nickname for her ex-boyfriend, calling him Matty. Leo was thrilled to hear Gwen call him that because he hoped it meant she wouldn’t hate him for harassing her husband, Dimitri von Lochner DiMera (Peter Porte), or at least wouldn’t hate him forever.
So Gwen invited Leo for lunch or dinner, depending on his choice. She wanted to thank him for saving her. And yes, he has to wonder why his former best friend Gwen is suddenly being so nice because just a few days ago, she wanted nothing to do with him. She chewed it every time Gwen met Leo Days of our lives. Then suddenly it was “Matty” and “Let’s have lunch.” So, will Leo see through Gwen’s fake kindness? maybe.
Days of Our Lives: EJ Damage Control – Recruiting Kat and Stephanie to mislead Leo
We know that EJ is sending Gwen there to try to control Leo. But will that make the reporter more skeptical? I also wonder if EJ could also put Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) on the job and get her to guide Leo away from the safe room because EJ has something he wants from Cat this week, according to official spoilers. EJ might ask his assistant Cat to show the main part of the clinic so that busy Leo can redirect his reporter’s coverage by distracting him. It’s like, “Oh, here you can tour the entire rest of the facility. And this thing is just a storage room. Don’t worry about that.”
Cat may also be asked to keep an eye on Leo and inform EJ if she sees Leo wandering around where he shouldn’t be or asking nosy questions of hospital staff. As you know, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) is the hospital’s public relations representative. And EJ needs all the help he can get with Leo.
But I don’t know if Stephanie can bend it either. EJ and Stephanie brought up talking points about the hospital’s role in the power outage. If you remember, it was EJ’s inconspicuous electrician who caused the power outage but then blamed it on Salem’s aging power infrastructure. EJ actually threatened to tell everyone that it was Paulina Price’s (Jackie Harry) fault for leaving the power grid running without proper maintenance or something.
Days of our Lives: Can a cat distract a lion?
If Cat can help guide Leo away from the room, it could make her secret mission in the ISA much easier. Kat can’t let Leo get in the way of her and Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) investigation. If Kat plays her cards right, she might be able to get some information of her own out of Leo before taking him out of the hospital again and forbidding him from going anywhere except to and from a doctor’s appointment.
Plus, EJ being so worried about Leo is also a red flag for Cat, you know. This may make her want to keep a close eye on the reporter. So, maybe Leo is looking for something that can help Raph and Cat. If she doesn’t get the goods from Leo, maybe Kat can convince her brother Dr. Mark Green (Jonah Robinson) to cooperate with the investigation since he’ll be working in that flat lab.
Days of our Lives: Will Assad become a victim? November sweeps promise high risk
Now, we know that Leo is kind of shaking in his stylish shoes right now. DiMera has crossed over. He knows he’s on EJ’s radar. He has the right to be afraid. If Gwen or Kat can’t convince Leo to back down, well, you know, EJ might use Leo as his first guinea pig in some diabolical experiment in that shiny new lab. Hopefully Leo will tell Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) all about his misadventures with Rita and Gwen randomly showing up to invite him to eat.
Between Leo telling Javi and Leo also telling Chad what’s going on and his suspicions, at least if Leo disappears, well, maybe Chad and Javi will realize that EJ may have targeted Leo. I’m sure that in the long run, even if EJ gets his hands on him, Leo will survive this. But we could see EJ doing something that led to Leo disappearing during the sweeps in November. We’ll find out soon.
