Four migrants died when their boat sank off the Greek island of Lesbos, the Greek coast guard announced on Monday, adding that seven had been rescued at sea.
“We have recovered four bodies, the rescue operation continues. We do not know if there were other people on the boat,” a coast guard official said.

This is the second fatal incident involving migrants off Lesvos, near the Turkish coast, in October.
Greece was on the front lines of a migration crisis in 2015-2016, when more than a million people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa crossed the border into Europe.
Migration flows then decreased. But the country has tightened migration rules, following a resurgence of arrivals from Libya via the islands of Crete and Gavdos.
