The young and the restless Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is seen preparing to set off for Los Angeles since he finally rocked the spot where Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) is staying away from her mother. But when Kyle doesn’t get his way with Claire, I think he might spiral out of control.
We’ll talk about what might happen when Kyle receives a harsh and final rejection from Claire.
The Young and the Restless: Victoria Caves to Kyle
Once Kyle decided that he would definitely go to Los Angeles to get Claire back, he ran to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) for information. At first, she refused, but Claire’s mother finally relented and told Kyle where Claire lived so he could find her in Los Angeles.
Worse still, Kyle has promised his son Harrison Luke (Redding Maunsell) that he will bring Claire back to them. But I really doubt things will go the way Kyle says – or the way he hopes. I think everything gets worse when Claire closes the door on their future. This week, Kyle tells his parents, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), that he is leaving for Los Angeles.
The Young and the Restless: Jack and Diane’s prophetic warnings about Claire and Holden
Although Harrison begged his father not to go – and then begged him to go with him – in the end, the little boy relented when Kyle said he would make Claire come home to them. Kyle makes promises to his young son that he shouldn’t make. This means we’ll see Harrison’s heart broken if Kyle can’t change Claire’s mind. I think we all know how it’s going to go.
Kyle’s position is that he needs to bring Claire home and save her from playboy Holden Novak (Nathan Owens). But Jack and Diane warn Kyle that Claire may be where she wants to be, and that she knows exactly who Holden is and what she does. This reminds me of when Jack and Diane tried to convince Kyle not to propose to Claire – but Kyle wouldn’t listen.
Jack and Diane were right then, and again, they are right now. Claire knows exactly what to do and with whom. She is not Holden’s victim. In fact, Claire is thrilled to be in Los Angeles with Holden. She is flirty and seems to like him just as much as he likes her. Things are going to heat up between Claire and Holden this week.
The Young and the Restless: Kyle Abbott’s reckless quest paves the way for nuclear disintegration
Kyle comes to California as a man on a mission. He promised his son Harrison that he would bring Claire home and make things right again. But this outcome is not within Kyle’s control. He’s kind of being a bad parent by making promises like this to Harrison that he can’t keep. Nothing in this situation indicated that his plan would work.
When he shows up in Los Angeles this week, Claire will likely be angry and angry. She repeatedly asked Kyle to give her space – to let her breathe and process. But the last time, he didn’t listen, and instead proposed. That’s when Claire broke up with him. Now Kyle has followed her out of state, and made the same mistake again.

The Young and the Restless: Kyle won’t back down
Claire has already broken up with Kyle, so I think she’s going to have to go nuclear and scorched earth this time. Something that can’t be taken back – that moment when Claire says, “Lose my number. Don’t ever talk to me again.”
I also bet Kyle is trying to manipulate Claire by name-dropping Harrison, hoping to take advantage of her affection for the boy. But I think Claire would say she’d still be happy in Harrison’s life — but not Kyle’s — because he’s out of control. Once she tells Kyle to leave LA and leave her alone, I think he’ll completely fall apart.
The Young and the Restless: Five ways Kyle Abbott spirals out of control
Once Kyle returns to Genoa City and has to tell Jack, Diane, and Harrison that Claire rejected him once and for all, he may start to spiral downward. Here’s what could be next for him after he realizes he pushed Claire away for good The young and the restless.
First, Kyle might start sabotaging his job at cropped. He already has a track record of this – slacking off, making small mistakes that get worse over time. Diane mentioned that he missed a meeting, and we’ll likely see more of that. Jack and Diane have had to fire him once before when he was escalating and undermining his mother at the job. They might have to show him some tough love again – and maybe even kick him out again.
Secondly, we can see Kyle drinking more. In fact, it has already begun. Jack invites him to drink whiskey and start a public scene with Audra Charles (Zoleka Silver) at a jazz lounge. It was bad, people were staring, it was a sight. That was weeks ago, and Jack had to take him away and wake him up. Given Abbott’s family history with addiction, this could escalate quickly.
Third, we may see Kyle crawling into bed with Audra. They’re both at rock bottom, and while they despise each other, this kind of hostility often turns into affection. If that happens, it could be explosive — and messy — especially if Audra becomes pregnant. This would send shockwaves through Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless: Kyle joins Cane?
Fourth, Kyle may go out of his way and target Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He blames Victor and Audra for everything that happened with Claire. Don’t be surprised if Kyle teams up with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Ken Ashby (Billy Flynn), or maybe even Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to take down Victor.
Although Billy promised Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that he was done with revenge, he may be tempted to help Kyle go after the drinker. Finally, Kyle’s parenting could start to slide. Harrison will be crushed when Claire is no longer with his father. He might attack Kyle if the boy gets upset – and it could cost him dearly.
If he can’t get his act together, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) may swoop in and take Harrison to Italy. Or Jack and Diane might step in, keeping their grandson close but asking Kyle to step out so he can get his act together. We’ll see how it goes, but it looks like Claire will reject Kyle once and for all — and from there, things will spiral out of control in a major way.
