After being prey to a lot of drama out of ice in 2024-25, the Vancouver Canucks seek to minimize each possible distraction that could have their season derail this time. One of the main scenarios that could be a subject of discussion in the media is the contract of Captain Quinn Hughes.

The Canucks finished with a file of 38-30-14 and 90 points last season, 19 points less than a winning season of the Pacific in the previous campaign. According to Button’s Co-Analyst, Mike Johnson, cannucks can only block noise with high performance.
“The ultimate silencer in all situations, the market, the team, (or) the individual wins. And therefore taking a good start would be really good for Vancouver, because it would stop all the Hughes Quinn conversations for at least a year,” said Johnson.
“It would settle everything and let them concentrate simply on the competition for the place of the playoffs, which they should be able to do if it goes well.”
Hughes is a double finalist in the Trophy Norris in title. One of the most prolific goals of the Blueline in the League, the Captain of the Canucks led the team with 76 points in 68 games in 2024-25.
