 Magic Post

The Pakistan Consulate in Dubai has published a video aimed at informing Pakistani workers of the United Arab Emirates on their rights and responsibilities of employment, according to Khaleej times.

The video covers the main work problems, including leave, salary, gratuity, overtime and the right procedure to legally leave a job. The consulate also advised the South Asian community to start employment after having received its work permits.

Authorities stressed that employees who leave a job during the probation period without informing their employer could face a one -year ban.

“As a Pakistani abroad to water, we represent our country here. This video has been made for Pakistani workers living in the United Arab Emirates to raise awareness of local laws so that they are not confronted with any legal problem. I hope this video will be useful for the Pakistani community here,” said Hussain Muhammad, Consul-General of Pakistan video.

The Pakistani diaspora is the second largest foreign water community, with around 1.7 million Pakistani working in various sectors.

The consulate stressed that by virtue of water law, everyone is equal, regardless of color, nationality, religion, gender or race. Men and women are entitled to an equal salary and women cannot be rejected due to pregnancy.

The video provides a detailed guide for Pakistani workers on compliance with water labor laws, the guarantee of legal compliance and the understanding of labor rights.

Work permit, contract and probation

Under water law, workers can only start their jobs after delivering their work permit, making it a compulsory requirement. The consulate stressed that the cost of the visa and the work permit is the responsibility of the sponsor, not the employee.

To water, a standard employment contract generally lasts two years and must be signed by the employee and the employer. Workers are advised to keep a copy of their reference contract.

The probation period is a maximum of six months. Employers wishing to terminate a contract must provide the employee with a notice of at least 14 days. Conversely, employees who wish to change companies during the probation period must give 30 days notice.

Not informing the employer before leaving a job can lead to a one -year ban under water labor regulations.

Working hours and overtime

Water employees are required to work eight hours a day or 48 hours per week, with an authorized break after five hours of work. Workers are entitled to one day off per week.

During Ramadan, working hours are reduced to six hours a day. Overtime is paid to an additional 25% of the employee’s regular income. Employees working at night or holidays are entitled to a salary of 50% higher.

Salary and gratuity

Water employers are required to pay wages on time, which can be directly transferred to the employee’s bank account. The deductions are not allowed for no valid reason.

Employees who work for one to five years are entitled to 21 days of gratuity per year, calculated according to their basic monthly salary. For employees for more than five years, gratuity increases to 30 days a year. Employees who work for less than a year are not eligible for gratuity.

Leave rights

Underwater labor law, employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave per year. In the event of serious illness, workers can receive up to 90 days in sick leave, with a full salary paid for the first 15 days.

For family leave, mothers are entitled to 60 days of maternity leave after the birth of a child, while fathers receive five days of paternity leave. In the event of the death of a close relative, employees can take three to five days in mourning.

Employees are generally required to inform their employer in advance if they intend to stop. However, if the employer does not pay wages or if the work environment is not certain, employees can resign without notice.

Responsibilities of employers and employees

Water employers are prohibited from retaining the passport of an employee. They are also responsible for providing medical insurance, a residence and a return plane ticket at the end of the employment of a blue necklace.

Employees, in turn, are not allowed to work for another company without the consent of their current employer. We also expect that they maintain honesty and discipline during the exercise of their functions.

How to file a complaint

If an employer pays no salary or gratuity, retains the passport of an employee, or if a worker wishes to file a complaint in labor, he should visit a Tasheel center. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization will try to mediate and resolve the dispute. If mediation fails, the case is referred to the labor court.

“Water labor laws protect workers. Know your rights and exercise your functions with honesty.
