Qatar said he had to talk to Hamas negotiators, Egypt and Turkiye on Tuesday to discuss US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Plan, adding that Hamas would study it “in a responsible manner”.

Trump unveiled a plan in Washington calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, the disarmament of the group and a progressive Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, followed by a post-war transition authority led by the president himself.

Qatar and Egypt submitted the proposal to Hamas on Monday, and “the negotiation delegation (of Hamas) promised to study it responsible for it,” said spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, at a press conference. “There will also be another meeting today, also assisted by the Turkish team, with the negotiation delegation.”

The head of Egyptian intelligence and his Turkish counterpart were in Doha, he said, to participate in the negotiations. “It is still too early to talk about answers, but we are really optimistic that this plan, as we said, is complete,” added Ansari.

After the announcement on Monday, the Qatari authorities said they were ready to put pressure on a truce on Palestinian territory following the Israeli excuse for his unprecedented strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha earlier this month. Ansari added that the United States had given security insurance in Qatar and Israel had promised not to attack it.

“The security insurance and the commitments that were offered yesterday (Monday) by President Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) were very clear and were under the guarantee of the American president that Qatar will never be attacked,” said Ansari.

“We are content with the security insurance that we have received,” he said, adding that there had also been “a commitment from Israel not to attack Qatar in its capacity or otherwise.”

Qatar, as well as Egypt and the United States, had led efforts to negotiate a complete ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
