Wuthering Heights Director Emerald Fennell defended the decision to launch Jacob Elardi in the film. She said that according to her, the actor perfectly represented the character of Heathcliff.

Wuthering Heights is an adaptation of the novel by Emily Brontë of 1847 of the same name. He features Margot Robbie and Jacob Elardi in the main roles, as Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, respectively.

However, there has been a controversy surrounding the cast of Elordi in recent weeks. The fans suggest that in the original book, the character is described as someone with dark skin, dark hair and dark eyes. THE Salinburn The actor does not correspond to this description.

During the Brontë Women’s Writing Festival on Friday September 27, Fennell spoke of his next film, notably the cast of Elordi. She shared that she had met him on the sets of Salinburn and said (variety h / t):

She added that Robbie is “so beautiful and interesting and surprising, and she is the type of person who, like Cathy, could get away with anything”.

She also explained:

“I think that honestly, she could commit a wave of murder and no one would care. And that’s Cathy for me. Cathy is someone who is just pushing to see how much she can go. So he needs someone like Margot, who is a star, not just an incredible actress – which means that people lose their minds. ”

Emerald Fennell had also directed SalinburnWho had Margot Robbie as one of the executive producers, while Jacob Elordi played Felix Catton.
