Mbappé forced to leave Atalanta

Real Madrid secured a crucial 3-2 victory against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, but the victory was spoiled by injury concerns Kylian Mbappé.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star had to be substituted in the first half due to a suspected muscle problem.

Speaking after the match, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti gave an update on Mbappé’s condition, declaring: “He has an overload, hamstring discomfort. We will have to see in the coming days. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but he had to stop because he couldn’t sprint… it bothered him a little. We therefore preferred to remove it.

Despite the injury scare, Ancelotti was satisfied with his team’s performance, describing it as a “complicated match” but in which Real Madrid “showed our best version: suffer, fight, compete.

The Italian coach highlighted “the good ball production and the good play of the attackers, with a lot of mobility”, as well as the fact that “everything went well” despite the need to “suffer” to achieve victory.

Real Madrid’s victory in Bergamo was only their third in the Champions League this season, and it will be a relief to the club and its fans that Mbappe’s injury does not appear too serious.

The Spanish giants will be hoping the young striker can recover in time to feature in their upcoming matches as they look to maintain their challenge on several fronts.
