Barcelona could risk losing their summer signing Daniel Olmo for free in January if they fail to raise the funds needed to sign the player up for the second half of the season, according to reports.
Olmo, who joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig with a six-year contract, has been one of Spain’s standout players during their triumphant Euro 2024 campaign. The 26-year-old midfielder has made a promising start to his career at Barcelona, scoring six goals in 12 appearances so far this season.
However, Barcelona’s well-documented financial problems have once again come to the fore, as the club struggles to sign Olmo for the entire season. It has been reported that the player is currently only registered for the first half of the campaign and that Barcelona must find a way to secure his services for the rest of the season.
The report suggests there could be a clause in Olmo’s contract that would allow him to leave the club for free if he is not signed up for the second half of the season. It would be a major blow for Barcelona, who invested £51 million to bring the Spain international to the Camp Nou.
