MANILA, Philippines — Shawie Caritativo continues to be in the spotlight during Savoure’s surprise run at the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational.

Showcasing his scoring prowess and solid ground defense, Caritativo was at the forefront of the Spin Doctors’ entry into the semifinals.

Even though Saviuge ultimately failed to reach the championship in a single game, Caritativo’s outstanding performance did not go unnoticed.

The 6-foot outside attacker stood out in the Spin Doctors’ valiant stand against the fantastic Criss Cross, 22-25, 25-22, 24-26, 13-25, delivering a record 25 points on 21 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace to go along with 16 excellent receptions last Wednesday.

Saviuge gained momentum heading into the bronze medal match after beating the Ultras, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, last Friday, thanks to Caritativo’s overall performance of 11 points, 10 receptions and eight recoveries.

The Spin Doctors will face DN Steel Far Eastern University in the battle for third place on Sunday.

“Our happiness is one hundred and one percent today because our team reached the semi-finals and coach Sydney (Calderon) is very happy. We have a chance to finish on the podium, so we can also offer a Christmas present to our coach if we ever get the bronze medal on Sunday,” shared Caritativo.

For his undeniable positive effect on Saviuge, Caritativo was recognized as Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week for the period December 13-15 – his second distinction after winning the same honor two months ago.

The pride of Rosales, 23-year-old Pangasinan got the nod from print and online journalists covering the beat, edging out Nico Almendras and Jude Garcia of Criss Cross and Jau Umandal of Cignal for the final recognition of the season .

Despite his outstanding performance, Caritativo is still not satisfied, looking to improve further to push Saviuge to greater heights and save the best for last in Sunday’s final broadcast live and on demand via the Pilipinas Live app and at www.spikersturf.ph.

“I probably rate my performance at eight out of 10 because sometimes I have free matches, and it’s not every day Christmas,” he said.
