New York – shortly after his defeat in the United States final Open on Sunday, Jannik Sinner was already thinking about how he could become a better player and how he can more frequently beat his real rival at the top of male tennis, Carlos Alcaraz.
In short, Sinner explained that he wanted to find a way to present the kind of variety in his game that Alcaraz posted during his 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at the Arthur Ashe stadium-a result which ended the reign of the sinner as a champion of Flushing Meadows and also removed his n ° 1 rank.

“Today, there were two or three things that were not where I wanted them to be. I was too predictable in my game today. Sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone,” said Sinner, a 24 -year -old Italian. “Train differently. Maybe agree, maybe you might lose games in some tournaments because you are trying something new. This is how I can become more a full player, say.”
Later asked if he thought it was true in the game of Sinner, Alcaraz replied: “I would not say that he is predictable, but I know his style. I know what he will do (and) the main weapons (in) his game.”
The sinner deplored some special problems on Sunday.
His first service clarification, which was only 48%, contributing to 11 breaking points for his opponent, five of whom were converted.
His return, which has only produced one break point.

His lack of attempts at service and volle – there was none.
Sinner said, with a sigh, that these are the kinds of “little things” on which, if they were worked in other games, “would give you the confidence to do when you are under pressure”, something he noted that Alcaraz is better equipped to do.
At least Sinner could make a joke in the aftermath of this defeat, saying with a little laugh that, even if he plans to change things, no one should expect him to show up at the Beijing Open at the end of September as a left -hander.
Certain statistics that make up the Sinner record in the past two seasons should be mentioned.

It was his fifth consecutive final during a Grand Chelem tournament, dating from his title at the US Open 2024. His victory brand in these five events is 33-2 – with the two defeats against Alcaraz, in the final at the French Open in June on Red Clay, then Sunday on a hard ground. This section also includes a victory over Alcaraz to Sinner in the Wimbledon final on a Grass court in July.
Return to the beginning of last year, and Sinner is 1-7 against Alcaraz, while going 109-4 against all the other combined enemies.
The sinner entered Sunday after winning 27 hard grounds consecutive land in Majors; Only Roger Federer, with a 40 -game race, has never done better.
“I had the impression that he was doing everything a little better today, especially by serving. … I grant him a lot of credit, because he managed the situation better than me,” said Sinner. “He increased his level when he had to do. I am always proud of myself, about the season that I am (having), but he played better than me today.”
