Russia launched one of its heaviest missile and drone dams on the capital of Ukraine on Thursday, killing at least 23 people, including four children, and damaging the mission of the European Union and the British Council offices in kyiv.

The mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed that a five -story residential block had been destroyed while several other buildings have been seriously damaged, describing it as one of the largest assaults in recent months. Thirty-eight people were injured during the one hour attack, which struck 13 locations across the country.

Ukraine said Moscow had drawn nearly 600 drones and 31 missiles, including nine ballistic missiles, in the night dam. The air defenses intercepted 563 drones and 26 missiles, although 13 targets suffered direct blows. Energy facilities have also been damaged, causing power failures in central regions, notably Vinnytsia, where 60,000 residents lost electricity after a strike on critical infrastructure. The national operator of the Ukrenergo network confirmed that the energy facilities were among the objectives.
