An explosion in a factory in the Russian region of Ryazan killed on Friday 11 people and 130 injured, the Russian emergency ministry announced on Saturday.

In a statement on Telegram, the ministry said that rescuers continued to search through rubble on the scene of the explosion, 320 km (198 miles) south-east of Moscow.

The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, said on Friday that the incident had been launched by a fire that was walking in a workshop in the factory.

There was no cause given for the fire, not clearly what the factory produced. Ukrainian drones have already targeted military and economic infrastructure in the Ryazan region.

Some Russian media have indicated that the explosion was caused by gunpowder.
