Before her breakout role in 1953 Roman holidayHepburn was engaged to an industrialist James Hanson Whom she met while living in London. However, as Hepburn’s career grew, she and Hanson struggled in their relationship.
Ultimately, Hepburn called off their wedding and famously said, “When I get married, I want to be really married.”
After her romance with Hanson, Hepburn moved in with her first husband Mel Ferrer. The couple married in 1954. Six years later, they welcomed their son Sean Hepburn Ferrer. After 14 years of marriage, Hepburn and Ferrer decided to separate.
Hepburn would not marry again until she met Andrea Dotti. The couple married in 1969 and welcomed their son Luca the following year. Dottie and Hepburn divorced in 1982 after 12 years of marriage.
Before her death in January 1993, Hepburn found one last chance at love with a partner Robert Wolders. The couple remained together for the rest of her life after the actress lost her battle with cancer.
