A major fire broke out in a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale emergency response from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), US media reported.

The fire occurred at the intersection of Hope and Pico streets, where 12 fire companies and nearly 100 firefighters worked around the clock to contain the flames.

The fire, which affected a two-story building, was initially reported as a large fire. Firefighters responded quickly and were able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring structures. According to the LAFD, the building was divided into two businesses by a wall and the fire spread to both parts.

Hope Street, a major thoroughfare in the area, was closed in both directions at Pico Street while authorities continued their investigation into the cause of the fire. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid delays in the area.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the fire. The causes of the fire are still under investigation by firefighters. The rapid action and coordination of firefighters made it possible to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
