BEIJING: Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), held talks with Peruvian Congress President Eduardo Salhuana in Beijing on Monday.

Zhao said China is willing to work with Peru to implement the important results of the heads of state’s diplomacy, advance the China-Peruvian comprehensive strategic partnership, and bring more benefits to the two countries and two peoples. .

Noting that deepening China-Peruvian friendly cooperation is a common expectation of the two peoples, Zhao said the legislative bodies of the two countries should contribute to promoting the steady and long-term development of bilateral relations.

The NPC of China is willing to work with the Peruvian Congress to strengthen exchanges among senior officials, special committees, bilateral friendship groups and others, deepen mutual learning on governance experience, improve mutual understanding and friendship and support each other in their pursuit of their efforts. development paths suited to their respective national conditions, he said.

Chancay Port in Peru, a historic cooperation project between China and Peru, will help promote the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road between China and Peru as well as between China and America Latin, Zhao said, adding that he hopes Peru’s Congress will continue to support the construction of the port.

“China and Peru have carried out fruitful cooperation in areas such as energy, mining, infrastructure construction and communications, and are actively exploring ways to expand cooperation in the areas of digital economy , green development and artificial intelligence. We hope that the legislatures of the two countries will jointly create a solid legal environment for practical cooperation between China and Peru,” Zhao said.

Salhuana said Peru firmly upholds the one-China principle and is willing to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in the fields of economy, trade, investment, electricity, infrastructure, culture and other areas.

All parties in the Peruvian Congress support deepening bilateral relations with China and are willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with China’s NPC to make legislative contributions to the development of bilateral relations, Salhuana said.
