Days of Our Lives: Sami Brady returns to Salem
Well, let’s dive into it. Official permission days Spoilers say Sami has several reasons to return to Salem. First, she needs to meet her new grandchild, Trey, aka Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree’s (Raven Bowens) newborn, whom they’ve named John Roman DiMera III. The second thing is that Sammy is supposed to attend the grand opening of Tom Horton’s (Zach Chase) free clinic. Also, Sami will tell everyone the amazing news about her engagement.
That seems out of left field because she didn’t mention seeing anyone when she was in town over the summer. It’s exciting news even though Sami Brady has been a fan favorite for decades. But she hasn’t had a full-time story on the soap for some time. This is not because days. Alison Sweeney made this choice because she is very busy with Hallmark movies and other projects. So she comes, blows through the city like a sublime hurricane, and comes back out every now and then when she’s needed.
DOOL: Sami Brady’s recent visits and past drama
If you remember, Sami came to Salem earlier this year to comfort Johnny after learning that EJ DiMera (Dan Furrigil) had blackmailed her in bed and that Johnny was essentially conceived as the result of rape. After the death of John Black (Drake Hogestyn), Sammy returned. But that was after the funeral had already happened and she showed up to comfort her mother Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).
In addition, Sammy was also there to provide support for Johnny, who was on trial for the attempted murder of his father, EJ. But then Sami left Salem again because she had to take care of her daughter, Sidney DiMera (Avery and Kady Seeger), who was recovering from surgery after breaking her leg. So, Hurricane Sammy will make landfall in Salem very soon.
Sami’s last painful story in days
The last time she was in town for that long, if you remember, when she had a big plot, it was when Sammy was reeling from being kidnapped. She didn’t know it at the time, but Lucas Horton (Brian Dattilo) was the one who kidnapped her. He was afraid Sami would go back to EJ. So, Lucas kidnapped Sami and framed EJ. Lucas then played hero and swooped in to save Sami.
Of course the truth came out at the worst possible moment when Lucas and Sami were at the altar and about to announce their marriage. Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) breaks into the church. He drops the bomb that Lucas is the kidnapper. Of course, Sami was terrified and left him immediately. Lucas ended up in Statesville prison for his crimes, but he’s been out for some time now. That was the last love story we knew of Sami, her ill-fated wedding to Lucas. This was also the last time Sami got engaged, as far as we know.

With the upcoming 60th anniversary of Days of our livesSammy returns for important celebration episodes that also coincide with Dr. Tom Horton’s (Zach Chase) luxury clinic party for free. So, Sami will tell her family that she is engaged, but to whom will she be engaged? Who is the mystery man? Is Sami’s fiancé a blast from her past or is he a new man?
Well, for one thing, we know who it’s not. I highly doubt it’s her ex-husband Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). He and Sammy had a brief marriage and affairs after their divorce, but that was years ago. The hunky FBI agent has been single since he broke off his engagement to Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu). And unless he’s sneaking away for off-screen visits with Sami, it seems unlikely that there will be a chance for Rafi and Sami to rekindle their romance, which is too bad for Rafi because he needs a lady in his life.
EJ is Longshot as Sami’s new fiancé
Also, I would like to say that it is not possible that Sami is engaged to her ex-husband EJ. He’s been too busy working in the secret lab and clinic hiding him and tormenting the doctors in the hospital. Additionally, EJ is still in love with Sami’s sister, Belle Black (Martha Madison).
EJ lost Belle when he pulled this stunt in Johnny’s trial when he revealed his relationship with Belle in search of a mistrial. The bottom line is, EJ still loves Belle even though she keeps rejecting him. Of course, it bothered Sami that Belle was dating EJ. Sami had some harsh words for her little sister, Belle, about this.
I think EJ will always carry the torch for Sami, but I doubt she’s open to being with EJ again. Additionally, in the few interactions we’ve seen, they still seem to lack liveliness. He still cares about her. She still hates him. I think this makes EJ a long shot at being Sami’s new fiancé.
Days of Our Lives: Exploring other potential suitors from Sammy’s past
Now, let’s talk about Austin Reed (Austin Peck). A long time ago days Watchers know that Sami had a crush on Austin when they were younger, but he loved her sister, Carrie Brady (Tracy Middendorf). I’ll spare you all the gory details, but Sami told lies and did terrible things while trying to get Austin. At some point, when she was younger, Sami drugged and raped Austin. Sami is not proud of this.
She admitted it to Johnny when she was in town this spring. But as far as we know, Austin is still happily married to Carrie, lives in Europe, and isn’t with Sami. But another viable option from her past could be Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) eldest son, Brandon Walker (Matt Cedeño). We haven’t seen him in Salem since 2005. It’s been 20 years.
He and Sammy had a turbulent relationship and were married briefly. Before Brandon left Salem, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) drugged Brandon and Sami and they ended up in bed together. At that time, Sami was in a relationship with Lucas. So, clearly Kate was trying to ruin that. Brandon took off, leaving Sami to clean up the mess Kate had made.
Days of our Lives: Is Lucas Horton the man who put the ring on him?
So, the most likely man Sami gets engaged to, if he’s one of her exes, is the one and only Lucas Horton. He’s been gone from Salem for a long time, so the two could have made amends off-screen. Maybe Sami has fallen in love with Lucas’ cute dimples again. Additionally, we heard that Brian Dattilo is back for the November and 60th Anniversary campaigns Days of our lives.
If you remember, we caught a look at Lucas in this extended summer/fall promo. So, maybe Sami will finally marry Lucas again. I know he’ll be happy about that. If Sami’s new fiancé is really Lucas, gosh, Kate would probably be a perfect fit. She always did her best to keep Lucas away from Sami. If they get back together, we’ll see what Kate does.
