General Hospital has Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) who wants to get rid of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and he just mentioned that he’s about to finish the mob man once and for all. Sidwell would love to kill Sonny, but I suspect Sidwell might have a different outcome in mind.
We’ll talk about how Sidwell framed Sonny for crimes he didn’t commit to send him to prison for life and get him out of Sidwell’s way.
General Hospital: An alternative suspect?
So, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), Sonny, and Carly Corinthos Spencer (Laura Wright) are worried about Michael going down to shoot Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) because Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) needs to prove Willow Tate (Caitlin McMullen) is innocent. Part of the defense is giving an alternative suspect.
And Christina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) is worried it might be Michael, which Alexis pretty much confirmed during their conversation. Drew will only let Alexis and the Davis family continue seeing Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) if Alexis does a great job defending Willow.
A desperate Michael covered up Drew’s shooting
Right now, it looks like Michael planted the gun to trap Willow. If so, Alexis needs to prove it, but on the surface it seems accurate. Proving this frame function could also prove that Michael shot Drew in terms of circumstantial evidence. The big question for me is if Michael planted the gun, how did he know which gun from Edward’s collection was used? Michael tells Jacinda he didn’t shoot Drew, but if he didn’t, how did he know which gun to plant in Willow’s room?
This is the missing piece for me. Other than that, the real shooter clearly knew which weapon it was. And then Michael happens to be there to offer Willow the chance to see the kids and hope that she will somehow get involved in the crime. There’s just these unclear things about if Michael wasn’t the shooter, how would he know what weapon to plant? Did he actually plant it? He acts like he did.
So, that’s kind of a missing link question for me. But in the end, I don’t think Willow or Michael actually shot Drew. I think it was someone else. Someone like Sidwell. Probably the same way the judge was killed. I think he is planning a long plan to take down Sonny. Honestly, it’s just kind of a slow ride at this point.
General Hospital: Michael Worris
Either way, Michael is worried because he has no alibi. He went there with the intention of doing something to Drew. Then Michael changes his mind and pays Jacinda, a soon-to-be ex-prostitute, to fake his alibi. So, Michael works overtime and tries to bolster this fake alibi by fixing Jacinda up, giving her a real job, and pretending that she and Michael are in a relationship.
Jacinda even said it makes her wonder if Michael actually shot Drew. Now, it seems that Jacinda, after talking to him, believes Michael is innocent. She is willing to agree to his plan and get the job, especially since Jacinda was asking about health insurance because apparently, prostitutes don’t usually get medical and dental coverage.
Sidwell’s master plan: frame Sonny for life in prison
As Michael works to secure his alibi, things may take a shocking turn and Sonny may be implicated instead of Michael. Teflon Don of Port Charles could become the prime suspect and end up in Pentonville, accused of trying to kill Drew. Lately, Marco has been angry with his father, Sidwell. He says Sonny needs to pay for the death of his mother, Natalia (Eva LaRue). Now, she drank and drugged herself to death. But Marco completely blames Sony for this.
Sidwell then tells Marco that Sonny will be out of their way very soon and for good. But I don’t think Sidwell would kill Sonny, even though he said it was tempting. By saying it’s tempting, to me that means Sidwell thought about it and then dismissed the idea. I still think Sidwell blew up Sonny’s apartment. Since that didn’t work, he moved on to other ideas. So, I think Sidwell might be setting Sonny up for prison, perhaps for Judge Aaron’s murder. And also for Drew being shot.
If Sidwell could charge Sonny with murder and attempted murder of a congressman, that would put him in prison for life. Get him out of the way, he’ll never be a problem for Sidwell again. He can take control of Sony’s docks and use them for all of his nefarious business needs. So, based on Sidwell’s conversation with Marko, this is what I expect to see in the November campaign, which begins on Thursday, October 30th.
Blindfolded: Why Sonny won’t see Sidwell’s cheat job coming
Meanwhile, Sonny is so focused on protecting Michael, he may not see Sidwell coming to him to sign him. And of course, Sonny knows Sidwell is a threat, even though he claims he wants to put all the misunderstandings behind him, but he may be misreading what kind of threat he represents. Sonny thinks Sidwell and Marco are up to something, but I don’t think Sonny suspects Sidwell will frame him and send him to prison for shooting Drew. I think Sonny expects Sidwell to try to kill him directly. So Sony must be in shock. And so would his family if things went that way.

Escalating Hostility: Kidnapping and Arson Sidwell’s Revenge Plot
One of the reasons Sidwell also wants to see Sonny in prison instead of dead is because he kidnapped Marco. And yes this is true. Sidwell burned down Christina’s bar, but she wasn’t even supposed to be there. There was no one. If she wasn’t so stupid, she would have gone out safely on her own. She remembered that there was no fire next to the front door, but she stood there staring until the fire spread to the front door. And then the back door was clear of fire. Cristina stood there staring at it instead of running. It was one of the worst things ever released. Basically, she was deliberately standing there about to let herself burn to death General Hospital.
But then Marco ran and saved her. As compensation for this good deed, Sonny kidnaps Marco to punish Sidwell instead of being grateful that Marco is not evil like his father. Essentially, Sidwell sees Sonny escalating by kidnapping Marco and holding him prisoner. Therefore, he might think that Sonny needs to go to prison.
November shocker: Will Sonny fall for Michael?
Currently, the PCPD does not have Sonny or Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) at the top of their list of suspects in the murders, which is very rare. Jason was in Croatia, so he has a perfect alibi. And Sonny was never looked at closely because other people had greater motives to kill Drew. And if Sidwell was the one who shot Drew because he was being difficult and they were arguing, if you remember, maybe he was just making lemonade out of lemons. I think Sidwell wanted Drew dead, but he survived. So Sidwell will pivot and use this to his advantage in another way.
We could see some evidence emerging soon that points PCPD in Sony’s direction. I mean, it’s the perfect solution for Sidwell because he can get rid of Sonny without killing him or laying hands on him. And Marco will be happy to see Sonny behind bars. Even if he wasn’t charged with Natalia, he would still pay for the crimes. Then Sidwell can stay under the radar, and watch as Sonny is transferred to Bentonville. Then Sidwell could rise up in Port Charles and show off his power.
Frankly, Sonny is not convinced that Michael is innocent in the shooting. So Sonny might actually be running the time if he thinks Michael committed the crime. Look for this to explode in November campaigns as Sidwell’s plan kicks into full gear.
