Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s rivalry with Jey Uso. The two stars will face off in Saturday night’s Main Event.
CM Punk was scheduled to face Seth Rollins in Saturday night’s main event for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, an attack from Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker sidelined Rollins, and Adam Pearce had to strip the title from him. Later that night, Jey Uso won a Battle Royal to punch his ticket to the championship match. This put Punk and Jey on a collision course with the fate of the World Championship on the line.
This week on Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, the veteran manager explained that WWE got itself into a bind with booking. He pointed out that both stars were babyfaces and pitting them against each other would force fans to choose between them. Cornette believed this would take away their aura and diminish their star power.
“They’re stuck in a position where these guys are the two to crown the new champion. I don’t think they’re changing Punk. I’m not sure what they’re doing with Jey. I hate when multiple babyfaces are sniping at each other. It forces people to pick and choose and hurt someone’s aura or stand in the pecking order.”

CM Punk Rumored to Win the World Heavyweight Championship
This week, wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer reported that CM Punk could leave Saturday night’s main event as the heavyweight champion of the world.
In a recent issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletterr, Dave said that Punk replaced Seth Rollins in the WrestleMania 42 promotion. He noted that the World’s Best had significant star power and that WWE could consider him as the next titleholder.
The rivalry between the two stars is intensifying, and it will be interesting to see who becomes the new world champion this Saturday in Salt Lake City.
