KARACHI: American President Donald Trump expressed his special gratitude on Monday to Shehbaz SharifPrime Minister of Pakistan, and Asim Munirthe Marshal of Pakistan, for his “crucial contribution” to obtaining a ceasefire in Gaza.

Trump’s remarks came during a high-profile ceremony that followed the signing of a Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas to the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt.


Trump recognizes Pakistan’s diplomatic role

Addressing world leaders gathered at the summit, Trump called Pakistan’s army chief “my favorite” and highlighted Pakistan’s constructive engagement in supporting peace negotiations.

He also extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz to address the ceremony, recognizing Pakistan’s diplomatic role in ending the conflict.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir played important roles in promoting peace efforts in Gaza,” Trump said.


PM Shehbaz: “Trump is a man of peace”

Taking to the podium, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Trump’s leadership in negotiating the ceasefire, calling him a “man of peace.” He praised the relentless efforts of the US president and other regional leaders to achieve what he described as “one of the greatest days in contemporary history.”

“President Trump has worked day and night to make this world a place of peace and prosperity,” Shehbaz said. “Pakistan had previously nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war between India and Pakistan, and today I am nominating him again for his extraordinary contributions to bringing peace to Gaza. »

The prime minister praised Trump for helping prevent an escalation between two nuclear powers and for his decisive role in Middle East peace efforts.

Shehbaz then praised Trump for his “exemplary and visionary leadership,” adding:

“You are the man this world needed most right now. The world will always remember you as the man who did everything possible to stop seven – and now eight – wars.”
