Myles Garrett has bold plans to defeat Aaron Rodgers in Steelers vs Browns game

Myles Garrett said in June that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ signing of Aaron Rodgers would be “a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard.” Four months later, he finally has this chance.

Speaking during Friday’s practice, the Cleveland Browns edge rusher said:

“He’s a great player. He’ll probably be ranked a little higher than some of the others. But yeah. I’d be honored to put him in the graveyard, and definitely a lot of respect for what he’s done in his career, because he’s special.”

He continued:

“(He) commands the offense effectively. Comes out smooth and quick. Gives no penalties. Nothing after the snap, nothing before the snap. He just moves slowly, takes time to own the possession and turns to his playmakers.”

When asked how he was going to get sacked, he shared one strategy: “win faster” and cut off Rodgers’ short- and mid-range options, forcing the MVP repeatedly to take his time scanning the field for deep threats.

The Browns also need to be wary of his ability to cause defensive offside penalties with a tough count, something Garrett also pointed out:

“I’m still going to take my chances. You have to be smart about the situation. You can’t allow them to take advantage of it. If someone unfortunately jumps offside, you have to finish the play. But you can’t let someone’s style take you hostage or set you back. You have to be who you are.”

The game kicks off at 1 p.m. on CBS.

Myles Garrett thinks Browns are still looking to fight after trades

Sunday will mark the first game Myles Garrett plays this year without quarterback Joe Flacco and cornerback Greg Newsome, who were traded to the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively. But he still believes the team is ready to at least make the playoffs after these moves.

He said:

“I think winning is always at the forefront of what we want to do. … This organization is determined to win and is trying to find a way to win.”

The Browns also gave up two 2026 sixth-round picks in the trades. In exchange, they received cornerback Tyson Campbell and fifth- and seventh-round picks for 2026.
