Eighth faster Aston Martin does not deserve points: Fernando Alonso

 Magic Post

Fernando Alonso made a brutal verdict about his Aston Martin because he said that the car was the fastest 8th and did not deserve the points. The Spaniard was in the optimistic mood yesterday because the training sessions showed a strong rhythm.

The team, however, made changes to the car overnight, and suddenly, in FP3, it has become clear that the car had taken a step back. Friday, after having competed with the frontrunners, Fernando Alonso fell deep in the midfield. In qualification, the Spaniard was able to drag the car into the third quarter and start the race in the top 10.

Surprisingly, however, Alonso was not impressed because he thought that Aston Martin was simply too slow and that the points were unlikely. Talking about the position of the car in the hierarchical order. The Spaniard said he thought the car was slower than Williams, Haas and Racing Bulls. If the points were given to merit, the team would not deserve any. He said to the media, including sportskeeda,

“I think it’s going to be difficult, but we are not fast enough to win the points. There are the four best teams, and the fifth best team is Alphatauri, Isack Hadjar, then Has Haas is clearly in front of us, and maybe also Williams.”

He added,

“We have put a tour today, but if you are looking for the two cars, I think we may be the eighth fastest team or something like that. If we are scoring points, it’s welcome, but maybe we don’t deserve it,”

Fernando Alonso reveals changes to the car

Aston Martin started on weekends well, with Fernando Alonso by following the best teams. He exceeded FP1, he was more or less there in FP2 too, but on Saturday, things became unlocked. The Spaniard revealed that the team had made some changes to the car which led to the drop in pace. He said,

“Yes, we have changed things. I think that on the configuration, we made the car slower, it sometimes happens. And the others, they make the car faster, so the combination is only a few positions.”

He added,

“Yes, I think no. Nothing we can do, it’s not that we decide. When you start P10, in fact, you probably prefer to start P11. This may guarantee points for tomorrow.”

Fernando Alonso succeeded in Yas Marina in the past when he won two victories on this track. He won in 2008 and 2010. He also had several podiums on this track. This time, however, if he is able to score points, it would be a bonus.

The teammate Lance Stroll also had a miserable day because he could not even spend after the first quarter.
