The United Nations:

The United Nations General Assembly voted on Friday to allow the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to contact the annual gathering of world leaders next week by video after the United States declared that it would not give him a visa to travel to New York.

The resolution obtained 145 votes in favor and five votes against, while six countries abstained. It also allows Abbas and all the other senior Palestinian officials to participate in UN meetings or conferences by video during the next year if they are prevented from going to the United States.

The United States said last month that Abbas and around 80 other Palestinians would be assigned by its decision to deny and revoke the visas of members of the Palestine Uslocked Palestine and the Palestinian Authority based in the West Bank. “The American opposition to this resolution should not surprise,” said US diplomat Jonathan Shrier before the vote.
