Barack Obama, who was the 44th President of the United States, shared a Yahoo News tweet that spoke of the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel’s program. The ex-potus explained how this step concerns the state of freedom of expression in the United States and wrote:
“After years to complain about the cancellation of culture, the current administration has brought it back to a new and dangerous level by systematically threatening regulatory measures against media companies unless they muse or journalists and commentators do not like.”
According to Variety, the ABC network interrupted the production on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, September 18, 2025. The decision of the channel belonging to Disney to cancel the late evening program comes after the FCC would have threatened to take action against the host for his recent comments on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel made remarks on the murder of Charlie Kirk Monday evening on September 15. He said:
“We have struck new stockings during the weekend with the Gang Maga trying desperately to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and do everything they can to score political points.”
While Barack Obama opposed the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, US President Donald Trump celebrated this decision. The 79 -year -old politician wrote on Truth Social:

According to NBC News, Barack Obama condemned the assassination of Charlie Kirk on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The former president, during his appearance at Jefferson Educational Society, Erie, Pennsylvania, said:
“And when that happens to some, but even if you think they are, quote, unquote, on the other side of the argument, it is a threat to all of us … and we must be clear and frank to condemn them.”
While speaking in Pennsylvania, the 64 -year -old politician also condemned cultural and political violence. He would have called Donald Trump and his allies to politicize Charlie Kirk’s shooting, who was shot dead on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
