A shooter opened fire on Wednesday out of five Pennsylvania State on Wednesday on five police officers, killing three and seriously injuring two before being killed on the scene, said a senior police official.
“I can confirm that there were five police officers who were slaughtered today, three deadly,” said state police commissioner Christopher Paris, to journalists, adding that two officers had been taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The officers had gone to an address as part of an investigation into domestic violence when they were criticized.
“I can confirm that the shooter is dead,” said Paris, declaring that the suspect had been shot by the police.
He said that an investigation was underway and there was no continuous threat to the public.
The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon in the canton of Codorus in the county of York, at 130 miles (210 kilometers) southwest of Philadelphia.

“There are a lot of details, which at this stage, we are not ready to release, given the continuous nature of the investigation,” said Paris.
The two injured officers were in critical but stable condition, he added.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said: “It’s an absolutely tragic and devastating day for York County and for the whole Commonwealth in Pennsylvania”.
