Invoke Russia on NATO violations

Great Britain summoned the Russian ambassador following the violation of NATO airspace by Russia last week, the British Foreign Office announced on Monday.

Last Wednesday, Poland killed Russian drones in the first known action of the genre by a member of the Western Military Alliance during the Russian War in Ukraine. A few days later, Romania scrambled jets when a Russian drone struck its airspace.

The forays into NATO airspace were “completely unacceptable,” said a spokesperson for the office of foreigners in a statement, adding that the United Kingdom is united to its NATO allies by condemning “reckless actions”.

“Russia should understand that its continuous aggression only strengthens the unity between NATO allies and our determination to stand with Ukraine, and any additional foray will be welcomed by force,” added the spokesperson.

The Russian Embassy in London said on Tuesday that ambassador Andrei Kelin had received an “official protest”.

“The British team was recalled that it was not planned to target facilities on Polish territory during the recent air strikes against the installations of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex,” the embassy said in a statement on its telegram channel.

“We reiterate that Russia has no interest in increasing tensions with Poland or NATO.”
