Charley Hull fought against Jeeno Thitikul in the last round of the Kroger Queen City 2025 championship to break his sequence without a victory of almost three years during the LPGA tour. The English golfer took the lead after 54 holes, and Sunday, September 14, during the event final, a Birdie from the last 18th hole helped him record a victory.
Thitikul was also in the running for the title but ended up making a Bogey on the 18th and finished in second place solo. At the post-round press conference, Hull discussed his performance and opened on the last Putt holes. She said she was planning to make an eagle on it, but made a stew and took the title. She said (via Asap Sports):
“I just thought I had to do the eagle to be fair. I didn’t really look at her for Birdie because I thought she was the hole. Then, yes, I guess it’s not over until the big lady sings, but I was trembling on this last putt because I did not expect it. But, yes, I feel good.”
It was a tight battle between Charley Hull and Jeeno Thitikul for the title. The English golfer entered this week after his finalist at the Aramco Houston championship. Earlier this year, she was a finalist at the Aig Women’s Open, but finally won her first event of the year in Ohio.
Charley Hull is thinking about breaking her sequence without victory during the LPGA tour
Charley Hull won for the last time during the LPGA tour at the Volunteers of America Classic in 2022 when she beat Lin Xiyu with a blow to seize the title. In 2023, she found herself in the running at the Kroger Queen City championship and finished tied after 72 holes but lost against Minjee Lee in the playoffs.
Finally, this week, she won her third title of LPGA tour. Speaking of his victory, Hull said (via Asap Sports):
“It feels good. Many second place has ended in recent years and even in the past two weeks, coming from British Open, then last week has finished second in the European Tower Ladies, then to win the victory, it feels good.”
This week, Charley Hull started the campaign with an opening round of 68 before playing a second round of 65. She obtained a round of 67 Saturday, followed by a last round of 68 to settle with a total of 20 sous.
Lottie Woad finished in third place, followed by Miyu Yamashita. Nelly Korda settled tied for fifth place with Jennifer Kupcho, Mary Liu, Sei Young Kim, Maja Stark, Nasa Hataoka and Chisato Iwai.
