A Russian strike killed 24 people on Tuesday waiting for retirement payments in a front -line city in eastern Ukraine where Russian forces massage forces for a large -scale offensive, officials said.
President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video showing several corpses scattered on the ground by a mini -duties and a burned playground – AFP images could not check independently.
“A brutally wild Russian air strike with an aerial bomb on the rural colony of Yarova in the Donetsk region. Directly on people. Ordinary civilians. At the very moment when pensions were disbursed,” said Zelensky online.
Moscow claimed the industrial region as part of Russia despite the fact that it is total control. Kyiv says that the Kremlin massaged 100,000 soldiers in a key part of the front line for a new offensive.
The Interior Ministry said that 24 people had been killed, while the army said that Moscow had dropped a sliding bomb – weapons fixed with wings to help them fly over tens of kilometers.
They are part of an arsenal developed by Russia to enter the Ukrainian territory more deeply and stretch the front line.
Yarova is about eight kilometers (five miles) from the first line and had a pre-war population of around 1,900 people.
AFP journalists in eastern Ukraine saw people in mourning cry outside a morgue where the staff had presented at least 13 corpses in black bodies.
Zelensky urged Ukrainian allies to make an answer to the attack.
“A response is necessary in the United States. A response is necessary for Europe. A response is necessary for the G20,” he said. “Solid actions are necessary to ensure that Russia stops death,” added Zelensky, while the Attorney General said he had opened an investigation into war crime.
There was no immediate comments from Moscow or Kremlin on strike.
The German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, has as announced that Berlin would provide Ukraine “several thousand long -range drones” to help him repel the invasion of Russia.
Germany “extended Ukraine’s capacities to weaken Russian war machines in the hinterland, offering effective defense” by strengthening support for the purchase of long-range drones, he added.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also said on Tuesday that the United States was ready to take “strong measures against Russia” on Ukraine, but added that “our European partners must join us to succeed”.
