Manila, Philippines – Dell Palomata is ready for his first appearance in the final with high -speed PLDT strikers in the PVL Invitational, eager to play a more important role when they continue consecutive titles.
The 3 -foot intermediate blocker 3 inch missed the PLDT breakthrough championship in the PVL tour on tour during her national team functions with Alas Pilipinas, but this time, she has the chance to contribute on the title stage.
Palomata helped PLDT finish a preliminary scanning of five games in the invitation with 11 points, highlighted by three blocks, in their victory 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 against Zus Coffee on Thursday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 6-inch 6-inch intermediate blocker may be back to action, but she knows how teamwork will play a key role on Sunday when they face Kobe Shinwa or Chery Tiggo university in the Big Dome.
“I think that the state of mind, not only for me, but for all of us, is to win the game. But we take it a whole at a time, especially since our games are consecutive. We remain active, we keep heated and we focus on each set,” said Palomata in Philippin.
Palomata thinks that few things have changed in his game after winning the best intermediate blocker in the Alas silver medal in the AVC nations cup and brought back to the house a pair of bronze medals in V-League Sea.
“I don’t think something has really changed. As an intermediate blocker, I just have to do my job. And that’s what I did for alas, and now I do the same for my mother team, “she said.
“Playing for Alas really helped me, especially with the experience. I was able to apply it now with my mother team. So, it’s back in training. We will study and prepare for the next championship match.”
With his international relays which brought him greater expectations, Palomata remains focused on his role in his very first championship match for Pldt.
“I do not think I would have obtained the best price for an intermediate blocker without my coaches and my teammates who supported me. So for me, there are no greater expectations. I just focus on what I can offer and contribute, whether for the team alas or for PLDT, “she said.
