More than 40 missing after a boat accident in the state of Sokoto in Nigeria

The rescuers are looking for more than 40 people after a boat accident in the northwest state of the Nigeria de Sokoto, the country’s emergency agency announced on Sunday.

“A dozen people have been saved, while more than 40 passengers remain missing,” the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said in a statement.

Nema said that he had deployed her response team to support the current rescue operations following a tragic boat accident in the state of Sokoto today.

Nema’s general manager, Zubaida Umar, activated the agency’s response immediately after receiving information that a boat transmitting more than 50 passengers on the Goronyo market had capsized.

Umar said NEMA, in collaboration with local authorities and emergency stakeholders, intensifies research and rescue operations to locate the missing people.
