Manila, Philippines – The Guardian of the Gilas Pilipinas, Chris Newsome, is not about to abandon his campaign during the Fiba Asia Cup 2025.
The Philippines will have to go through the Sssorius to win a quarter-final berth after a start of 0-2 in group D.

Bottom but not entirely, and Newsome holds hope.
“We have always had a chance,” said Newsome after a defeat of 94-86 in the hands of New Zealand in Djeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening.
“We just have to learn our lessons from it and continue to move forward. I mean, there is still much more than we can learn. ”
Newsome scored eight points and collected four assists in defeat.

Gilas will have to win his last match in group D against Iraq for a chance to secure a place in the quarter -final.
“Regarding the locker room, I know that everyone must keep their heads high, continue to move, continue to fight and know that we can continue to work.”
If Gilas beat the Iraqis, the Nationals will face the third seed of group C in a direct elimination match for a ticket for the neighborhoods.
Gilas faces Iraq later at 4:00 p.m. (Manila time) at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
