Spain said on Friday that it had left 12 tonnes of food in Gaza, which, according to not supported experts, slips into famine.

The mission deployed 24 parachutes, each capable of transporting 500 kilos (1,100 pounds) of food, for a total of 12 tonnes – enough for 11,000 people, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Manuel Albares.

Spain also has aid to wait to cross Gaza by road from Egypt, the minister added in a video message published on the social network X, as well as a video of the operation.

“The induced famine that the people of Gaza suffer is a shame for all humanity,” said Albares.

“Israel must constantly open all the land passages so that humanitarian aid can enter on a large scale.”

Spain joins other Western countries, including Great Britain and France, which recently established a partnership with the Nations of the Middle East to deliver humanitarian supplies by Air to the Palestinian enclave.

But the head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees Philippe Lazzarini warned that the Airdrops alone would not avoid aggravated hunger.

“The Airdrops are at least 100 times more expensive than trucks that wear twice as much aid than planes,” he wrote on X.

Although Israel has granted more in the Gaza Strip in recent days, aid agencies say that the Israeli authorities could do much more to speed up border controls and open more border posts.

Concreen degenerated last week about the situation in the Gaza Strip after more than 21 months of war, which began after the Palestinian militant group of Hamas led a deadly attack against Israel in October 2023.

Experts supported by the UN warned Tuesday that a famine of the “worst case” took place there which could only be reversed if the humanitarian groups obtained immediate and unhindered access.
