The recent stages of Israel to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza is not sufficient to reverse severe shortages, said the acting director of Gaza in UNRWA affairs Sam Rose.

Rose added that even if “we welcome these initial steps very well to increase the flow of help”, he said that it was “not enough”.

“First of all, you (Israel) limit the supply of help to come, or you block it completely. Secondly, you criticize organizations whose work consists in providing this aid, the United Nations organizations-whose work, of course, is made much more difficult by the controls that Israel imposes,” he said.

“And then the next step is to frame the humanitarian aid itself in the context of the problem,” he continued. “And this is the dynamic we have faced in the past few weeks during which countless children have died of malnutrition.”

“This has clearly been part of an approach to famine manufactured for several months,” Rose in Al Jazeera told.

Meanwhile, air humanitarian aid in Northern Gaza has triggered public frustration. Jordan and the United Arab Emirates deployed three missions on Sunday, in parachuting around 25 tonnes of supplies in the Beit Lahiya region. However, many residents say that help has ever reached them.

According to the government’s media office in Gaza, the combined content of the three Airdrops represented only two trucks. A large part of the cargo would have landed inside militarized Israeli areas, inaccessible to civilians.

The same office said Gaza needs 250,000 cans of baby formula and 600 aid trucks per month to meet minimum survival standards. In a statement published on Telegram, he described the humanitarian situation as disastrous and called for a “radical and urgent solution”, demanding the unconditional lifting of the blockade of Israel and the immediate opening of all crossings on the territory.

Mass famine

Despite recent claims by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there is “no famine” in Gaza, humanitarian agencies continue to relaunch alarms.

In Gaza City, a baby named Muhammad Ibrahim Adas died of a serious malnutrition and the lack of baby formula, said a medical source from the Al-Shifa Hospital Al Jazeera.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that almost one in five children under five in Gaza City is now acute malnutrition, making it the most affected area of the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump expressed his frustration as to what he described as a lack of appreciation for recent American humanitarian gifts in Gaza.

“We gave $ 60 million two weeks ago for food for Gaza, and no one recognized it,” Trump said at a press conference. “No other country has given nothing … No one gave only us.”

Trump seemed to refer to American contributions to Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a body supported by the United States and Israel. The GHF was faced with the criticism of humanitarian groups for the delivery of inadequate aid and the dangerous conditions on the distribution sites.

Since the GHF began its operations in May, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians who have been trying to access distribution points close to the aid.

Meanwhile, at least 41 Palestinians were killed through Gaza by Israeli attacks since dawn, including eight civilians struck while waiting for food aid, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera.

Continuous bombing coincides with the detention of 21 activists from the Handala Help the ship by the Israeli authorities, 17 have now been seen by lawyers.

THE HandalaPart of the civil mission of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition to break the naval blockade on Gaza, was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters last week. Israel has since accused the group of illegally entered the country.

The group of legal rights Adalah, which met most of the detainees, described their state as “relatively stable”. In a press release on social networks, the flotilla group said that the detainees had undergone pressure to accept a “voluntary expulsion” or to face indefinite detention and legal proceedings before a court.

The War of Israel against Gaza

The Israeli army has continued a brutal offensive in Gaza since October 7, 2023, killing nearly 60,000 Palestinians, most women and children. The relentless bombardment destroyed the enclave and resulted in food shortages.

Last November, the International Criminal Court published arrest mandates against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Yoav Gallant Minister of Defense for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for his war against the enclave.
