In 2018, Trump withdrew the United States from the Tehran Nuclear Agreement with the world powers and reimed the sanctions that paralyzed the Iranian economy. Tehran reacted a year later by violating the nuclear borders of the agreement.
Khamenei, who has the last word in Iranian affairs, said last week that Tehran would not be the victim of intimidation in talks under threats.
While leaving the door open for a nuclear pact with Tehran, Trump restored the “maximum pressure” campaign he applied during his first mandate to isolate Iran from the world economy and lead its oil exports to zero.
