Damass: The Syrian Defense Ministry announced the conclusion of its military operation against the loyalists of former President Bashar al-Assad in the coastal regions of Latakia and Ivière, following the neutralization of security threats posed by the remains of the overturned regime.

In a statement on Monday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Ghani, confirmed that the soldiers had managed to repel the remaining Loyalists of Assad and to obtain vital areas. “After reaching the neutralization of security threats, we are announcing the end of the military operation,” said Ghani, adding that the security forces had absorbed the attacks of the Loyalists of Assad and moved them away from strategic locations.

The Syrian Human Rights Observatory reported that nearly 1,500 people had been killed in violence since Thursday, the majority of victims being civilians. The conflict, which broke out in Assad’s Bastions, has led to brutal clashes between the new government and the pro-Assad forces. However, Al Jazeera did not check these figures.

The acting president Ahmed Al-Sharaa of Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) promised to bring those responsible for violent clashes, announcing the formation of an independent committee to investigate deaths. Ghani confirmed that the security forces would cooperate fully in the investigation to discover the facts and ensure the justice of the victims.

Despite the announcement of victory, instability continues to seduce Syria. While the fighting has calmed down along the coast, new violence broke out in the capital, Damascus, when armed men tried to attack a government building. The security forces reported that two attackers had been arrested, while others escaped, leaving the true identity of the unclear attackers.

Violence in Latakie and Tarteaux began last week when pro-Assad forces launched deadly attacks on the security forces of the new government. The ambush led to murders of revenge, while thousands of supporters armed with the new government were heading for coastal regions, causing blind attacks. The government has sent reinforcements to the region to regain control, while efforts to stabilize the region continue.

In the midst of climbing violence, the accusations were leveled in Iran, an ally of the Assad regime, for its involvement in disorders. Iranian officials firmly denied these allegations, rejecting them as “completely ridiculous”.
