Washington: Former American president Donald Trump announced a new immigration initiative presenting a “gold card” visa program that would offer us a residence and a way to citizenship for people who want to invest $ 5 million.
The initiative should replace the existing EB-5 Visa EB-5 program, which currently grants green cards to foreign nationals who invest in job creation companies in the United States, Trump said that the new system would simplify the process and bring direct financial advantages to the American government.
“We are putting a price on this map of around $ 5 million, and that will give you green card privileges,” said Trump while signing decrees alongside the secretary of trade Howard Lunick. The former president suggested that the program would be launched within two weeks and would not require the approval of the congress.
Lutnick explained that candidates would be required to pay the costs directly to the US government, the funds used to help reduce the federal deficit. He added that the selection process would always imply verification to ensure that participants are “global class global citizens”.
The announcement comes as Trump continues to put pressure on stricter immigration policies, including what he describes as the greatest effort to expulsion from American history.
