China, the United Kingdom promises to continue cooperation on AI, climate and global issues

LONDON: China and the United Kingdom have agreed to improve bilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, technology, artificial intelligence and climate change during the 10th strategic-UK strategic dialogue held Thursday in London.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Central Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), and the British Foreign Minister David Lammy, co -gerues dialogue.

The two parties reached consensus on the roadmap for future exchanges. According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main visits to come have been announced, in particular the British Minister of Energy Security and Net Zero, the British Minister of Science, Research and Innovation, which will attend a meeting Cooperation in China-Uk Innovation, and to the British Minister of Education, which will engage in ministerial consultations with Chinese-UK education.

Other agreements have been concluded to accelerate the preparations for the joint economic and commercial commission of China-UK, as well as mechanisms on health care and industrial cooperation. The two parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation in global governance, climate change, cybersecurity, financial services and AI. They stressed the importance of advancing the complete and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement and supporting the green transitions of the two countries.

During the dialogue, Wang recognized the differences in political systems, history and culture between China and the United Kingdom, but stressed the importance of objective and rational communication based on mutual respect. He reaffirmed the point of view of China of the United Kingdom as a crucial strategic partner and expressed China’s commitment to advance practical cooperation in various fields.

Lammy stressed the importance of the British-Chinese relationship, in particular in the light of growing world challenges. He noted that the two nations should strengthen strategic communication to contribute to world peace and stability.

Wang has also developed China’s positions concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong and other sensitive questions, while the two parties exchanged in -depth opinions on the current Ukraine crisis. Wang highlighted the position of China, stressing the importance of avoiding the propagation of the conflict and preventing climbing. He called for continuous efforts to peace talks and the creation of a balanced, efficient and sustainable European security framework.

The two parties also discussed the situation in the Middle East and in other global questions of mutual concern.
