Stephanie McMahon supervised RAW’s creative direction in 2004 while Paul Heyman worked in the same role on Smackdown. Jim Ross, a WWE commentator at the time, recently discussed a disagreement between the two men behind the scenes.
At the end of 2004, Stephanie McMahon organized a call conference with other members of the RAW creative team. He later appeared that Heyman had called and heard part of the call although he was not invited. Consequently, the WWE Hall of Famer has lost its use of a creative prow at Smackdown.
Talk to Toast jr Host Conrad Thompson, Ross explained the logic behind which Heyman answered the call without authorization:
“Well, according to her, Conrad, Paul betrayed Stéphanie’s confidence. I do not disagree with you (that Heyman hearing the meeting did not matter). You might think that the main screenwriter of the series Who is recorded the next day, I would be informed of what was going on. Reproducing another game in cage or doing something else? Heyman then worked on the new WWE ECW brand in 2006 before leaving the company. After six years of absence, he returned in 2012 as a personality on the screen.
Jim Ross defends Paul Heyman after the dispute with Stephanie McMahon
After reflection, Jim Ross saw no problem with a member of the creative team listening to the plans of another WWE show.
The legendary advertiser thinks that the Ego of Stephanie McMahon played a role in the withdrawal of Paul Heyman from his post to Smackdown:
“He should have listened anyway, but he was not welcome,” continued Ross. “They wanted to separate, and they had a competition and all these other bullshit. It’s weird. It shouldn’t seem weird, Conrad. It’s fucking weird! It’s Egos, politics and everything That, dogs * * t. “(30:42 am – 31h07)
In the same episode, Ross gave his honest reaction to the recent explosion of Corey Graves after being demoted to NXT.
