Four people were injured in a stabbing attack Tuesday evening in central Tel Aviv.

The attacker, an American permanent resident of Moroccan origin, was shot and “neutralized” by a civilian passerby as he attempted to flee the scene.

Israeli authorities identified the suspect, who entered Israel three days before the attack, based on documents found on his body.

Born in Morocco in June 1995, the attacker had been a permanent resident of the United States since September 2022, a profile rarely seen in attacks targeting Israelis.

Two of the victims suffered minor injuries, while the other two suffered minor injuries. All four were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The incident follows a similar stabbing attack on Saturday by a Palestinian attacker from the West Bank, who seriously injured an Israeli in south Tel Aviv before being shot dead.

These attacks come against a backdrop of heightened tensions following the launch of a major Israeli military operation in Jenin, which left at least eight Palestinians dead.

This violence follows a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, in force for only two days.
