MANILA, Philippines — NLEX stomped Phoenix, 108-94, to halt its slide and stay in the race for a berth in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioners Cup on Sunday night.
Robert Bolick Jr. scored 26 points, while Mike Watkins added 22 more with 18 rebounds to stop a five-game skid at Antipolo City’s Ynares Center and improve to 4-6 overall, good for a joint 9th place with Magnolia.

Rookie Jonnel Policarpio scored 17 points while Robbie Herndon and Tony Semerad added at least 11 each in the must-win game for one of the hottest teams entering the showcase.

The Road Warriors won four of their first five games before going on a losing streak.
Phoenix got the goods from import Donovan Smith, who had 36 points and 14 rebounds.

Ricci Rivero added 13 more in the scoring effort, but was the only local to finish in double figures, ultimately condemning the Essence club to a 3-7 mark in the standings.
