MANILA, Philippines — In last year’s match between Rain or Shine and Blackwater in the PBA Governors’ Cup, George King and the Bossings eliminated Elasto Painters.
This time, Adrian Nocum and company made sure Blackwater didn’t repeat the same scenario as the Elasto Painters emerged victorious over Bossing, 122-106, in the Commissioner’s Cup.

When they last met, Nocum scored just nine in the surprise defeat to the cellar dwellers, but the athletic fullback made sure to score more this time in a spirit of revenge against the Bossings.
“For my part, I stick to everything my coaches tell me regarding our game plan. Even the coach (Yeng Guiao) said we played well in this match, but our opponents just played much better,” Nocum said in Filipino at the Philsports Arena on Wednesday.

The consistency paid off for Nocum as he scored 22 points while grabbing five rebounds to give the Elasto Painters a sense of revenge against their last conference tormentors.
The Mapua product also displayed his efficiency on the field with a shooting rate of 57.1 percent, hitting eight of his 14 attempts.
It also helped that Nocum had some extra motivation before Wednesday’s game in the form of his wife’s birthday.
“I think it’s (I played well) because it’s my wife’s birthday tomorrow. My family also serves as motivation,” Nocum said.
Guiao doubled down on Nocum’s feelings the only way he knew how.
“Adrian even did some acrobatic moves there. I guess when it’s your wife’s birthday, you have to be acrobatic,” Guiao said jokingly.
