Everton will look to continue their strong defensive form when they host Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Toffees have kept six clean sheets in their last 10 league matches, the best record in Europe’s top five leagues over that period. However, their difficulty scoring goals remains a major problem, with only one shot on target in the recent 0-0 draw at Arsenal.

Manager Sean Dyche will be without on-loan striker Armando Broja, who is ineligible to face his parent club. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to lead the line again as he looks to end his 11-game drought.

Defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who impressed in Arsenal’s draw, should be fit to feature despite ongoing discomfort. Dwight McNeil remains doubtful due to knee problem.

Chelsea, two points behind leader Liverpool, will be without Marc Cucurella, suspended after his red card against Brentford. Renato Veiga could replace him, although Tosin Adarabioyo is another option.

Injuries continue to hamper the Blues, with Wesley Fofana, Reece James and Mykhaylo Mudryk all sidelined. Benoit Badiashile is doubtful after spotting a problem ahead of the Brentford game.

Enzo Maresca’s side will look to continue their impressive run of eight straight wins in all competitions, but Everton’s resolute defense poses a stern test at Goodison Park.

Everton XI predicted: (4-5-1)

Pickford;

Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko;

Harrison, Gueye, Mangala, Doucoure, Ndiaye;

Calvert-Lewin

Predicted Chelsea XI: (4-2-3-1)
