BEIJING: Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday chaired an executive meeting of the State Council to study and promote the healthy development of the platform economy.
The meeting also discussed a draft law on the safety of hazardous chemicals and approved a draft decision to amend and abolish certain administrative regulations.
The meeting noted that the development of the platform economy is important for increasing domestic demand, maintaining employment stability, guaranteeing the livelihoods of the population as well as developing new quality productive forces.
He called for efforts to strengthen the industrial Internet platform system, help consumer Internet platform companies tap market potential, and promote orderly and law-based cross-border data flow.
The standardized operation and orderly competition of platform businesses should be promoted, the meeting said, adding that their quality should also be improved to give full play to the role of the platform economy in boosting employment.
The meeting discussed and approved a draft law on the safety of hazardous chemicals and decided to submit the draft to the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, for deliberation.
It was emphasized in the meeting that efforts should focus on establishing a preventive mechanism to manage security risks at different levels and eliminate hidden dangers. It is essential to improve safety management throughout the process of production, storage, use, operation and transportation to resolutely reduce the occurrence of major accidents, according to the meeting.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of improving the professional skills of industry personnel, promoting large-scale equipment modernization, and accelerating the elimination, modernization and renovation of obsolete chemical facilities.
In addition, it decided to revise certain provisions of 21 regulations, including one regulation concerning the supervision of medical equipment, and to abolish four regulations.
