TASHKENT: These days, important political processes are taking place in Uzbekistan. A new parliament was formed following the results of recent elections.
On November 20, a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) was held to consider the candidacy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The session was chaired by Chairman of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismoilov.
In accordance with Article 94 of the updated Constitution, the consideration and approval of the Prime Minister’s candidacy falls within the exclusive competence of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. According to article 118, the candidacy of the Prime Minister is presented by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In this regard, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the meeting.
– In today’s difficult conditions, the responsibility for carrying out the strategic and current tasks incumbent upon our country, in particular at the level of all links of the executive power, the government and its head, has not never been this big. Today, our people expect concrete results from the new government, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
First of all, the head of state insisted on the implementation of programs over the past five years. During this period, the country’s economy doubled and exceeded the historic milestone of 100 billion dollars. Per capita income is expected to reach $3,000.
Exports almost doubled, exceeding $25 billion for the first time, and foreign exchange reserves exceeded $40 billion. The volume of foreign investments absorbed was multiplied by 6, which made it possible to create 1.5 million well-paid jobs.
Over the past three years, 10 large solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2.7 million kilowatt hours have been commissioned. The share of alternative energies has tripled since last year.
